Your day begins early in the morning, when you will be picked by a well- versed ornithologist, photographer and local guide into the woods, river banks and rock cliffs to watch, observe and study about the avian friends of Anamalai Hills. It is a life time experience to capture some realistic pictures of winged pals in Western Ghats. Join us in this nature walk and take home life time memories to cherish.


Day 1

  • Meet at Coimbatore railway station at 5.30 am, we will head straight to Pollachi in our own hired vehicles.
  • Check in to our accommodation and after quick freshening up have breakfast. We will have a small orientation session about the habitat, species of Anamalai Hills and how the next days will be like.
  • After the orientation will head out for our first birding session to Aliyar and will make a move along the Sarkarpathy canal.
  • This will be a warm up session to get acclimatized to how the birding in this region would be like. We will be back in time for lunch and for some rest after.
  • Our post noon session will be at Samathur Rajakulam pond for spotting water birds and for birding & photography.
  • Evening back to our resort and will head towards Valparai . Stay at a resort in Valparai and Discussion over dinner.

Day 2

  • The day begins early as we prepare ourselves to explore a different habitat at Valparai, and make the most of the morning light.
  • Our day will be spent covering a newer habitat with chances of sighting additional species of birds.
  • Afternoon drive to nearby tea and coffee plantations for birding and photography. Enjoy the beautiful evening sunset in the tea plantations.
  • Dinner and discussion at the base camp about two birding sessions during the day which will be concluded with a photo-review session back at the base in the evening and overnight stay at the resort.

Day 3

  • Check out early. Drive to Sholayar , stopping on the way there is great chance of spotting birds of Anamalai hills and proceed for lunch.
  • After lunch rest or you can choose to explore the area around the stay, one will see many birds and late afternoon drive to Pollachi and from there to Coimbatore Railway station and leave back home with loaded memory and memory cards.

Dhanuparan - Wild Life Photographer

Our Birding and Photography sessions will be guided by young wildlife photographer from Pollachi. K.A.Dhanuparan, a class XII student, who began photographing when he was six years old, his first photo was a hornbill male on a Ficus tree.

He had travelled to several forests throughout India. His photos are exhibited at Ataikattai and Top slip information centers.

  • He is an ECG member and eco-volunteer for ATR ( Anamalai Tiger Reserve).

  • He was awarded in the “Young Photographers” category, by Nature in Focus, Asia’s premier nature and wildlife photography festival that was held at Chancery Pavilion, Bengaluru from July 3 to 5, in the year 2015.

  • He won the award for photographing the Nilgiri Thar on Valparai Ghat Road. Join us with him for a fascinating trip in the Anamalai hills this summer to capture the beauty of nature.

    Some Do's

    • Carry clothes according to the season of the visit. Carry clothes that will help you camouflage with the surroundings.
    • Always carry Original Identity Proof.
    • Carry a fragrance-free Sunscreen.
    • Always keep your phone on silent or airplane mode when entering forest.
    • Cover your face with a scarf to protect it from dust.
    • Also carry extra batteries, memory cards for cameras and cover it to protect the camera from dust,rain etc.
    • Always remain calm and composed when any sighting takes place.
    • Your guide/mentor and locals know the area inside the forest better than anyone, so do cooperate with them.
    • Do follow strict timing as given by your team leader to avoid delay in any activities as safaris are group events.
    • Always respect your local guide/driver and their knowledge about the forest during an safari.
    • For herping/monsoon wildlife tours, always carry wind-cheaters, proper clothing and shoes, water-proof bags. Also get rain proof covers for your camera/binoculars etc.

    Some Don'ts

    • Do not litter in forest and surrounding areas
    • Do not throw anything out of the gypsy.
    • Do not yell, scream or wave at the animals.
    • Do not wear brightly colored clothes or apply any kind of perfumes or dos
    • Never feed any animals
    • Do not play any loud music in vicinity of the forest area.
    • No one is allowed to get down from the gypsy inside the forest.
    • Do not argue with any person like forest guards, guides, locals or even travellers from another gypsy during the safari.
